Dear All,

As most of you are aware, our ACS 1979 Reunion Gathering was held last Friday at the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort. It was a good time to catch up for those who attended and to reminisce about the "good times" that we had in school. A few teachers also attend the function, namely Mr Subramaniam, Mr Brian Foenander, Mr Kesavan and Mr Chandrakasam.

As a few people could not attend last Friday's function, Joe and Kenneth have arranged for another dinner session tomorrow night. I understand that a number of those people who could not attend last week will be able to make it this time around, like Lim Kyer Hoke, Chew Peng Chai, Paul Chew, Kenny Loh, etc. We hope that others like Kalai, Ram, Punniamoorthy, Teik Keng, etc. will be able to make it and join in for this gathering. The more people we can get, the merrier it will be! Joe/Kenneth have also managed to get another two teachers to attend - Mrs Yin Ee Heng and Mrs Tan Chek Hong - so it should be good fun having them around.

The Reunion Dinner will be charged at RM 50 for adults and RM 25 for children. You will be required to pay at the registration counter that will be set up at the entrance to the banquet hall.

But, for the moment the spotlight is on the reunion and all of you should make all efforts to attend. Agreed that it is on the 2nd day of CNY and you may have other plans. However, an occasion such as this reunion does not happen every year, - in fact it may not happen again at all - so make an extra effort and perhaps some sacrifice to bring yourself and your family to Clearwater Sanctuary Resort on 23rd January 2004, to be with the people you studied with 25 years ago. Guys,

The count is down to 10 days before the Reunion !!

We have 2 more confirmations coming from Lim Jit Soon and Loh Yit Choong. That brings the tally to 26.....still short of the classroom size we are targeting.

With 10 more days to go, I hope all of you out there will make an effort to pull in more of our former classmates to attend.

Meanwhile, for those of you ardent golfers - Basri tells me that Clearwater's golf course was voted the best in the country last year. So, if you like to do some golfing while you are there, pls. call Basri at 019-5590509 and he can make the necessary arrangements. Apparently, there are many Koreans booked in for that weekend and therefore you will need to get in touch with Basri early if you plan to golf.

Guys,
We have finalized on the venue....the Reunion will be held in the Clear Water Sanctuary Resorts, which is just about 15 minutes outside Ipoh. Two good reasons for this choice: 1) it is just outside Ipoh town and hence away from all the city hustles, especially during CNY. 2) one of our old boys - Basri, works there ! So, we can all be assured of VIP treatment !!

We are just under one month away from the Reunion and the "Yes, I am attending..." list has grown a little bit more:

This website is in its early days, so keep your expectations in perspective. It is a great website and a very nostalgic one too. This being your very own website, keep it alive and interesting. Keep your suggestions for improvements coming and we will accommodate it as we go along.

But, please do remember that none of us are full time on this and we all have our own lives too and time is precious. With your patience, participation and co-operation we can together make this an even greater website – it is really up to you.

We must greatly thank two people for making the launch of this website possible:

25th ANNIVERSARY REUNION DINNER – 23rd JANUARY 2004 IN IPOH

This is PATHETIC response – to say the least. Come-on guys, we can surely do better than this. After all this will be 25 years since we left the beloved school and surely we can make an effort and sacrifice to attend. We need your confirmation firm and fast so that we can book a suitable venue.

If we are only talking about less than 10 attending, then we could very well meet at any one of the coffee-shops in Lahat Road, behind the school. But, NO – this is the 25th ANNIVERSARY REUNION DINNER for the proud CLASS of ’79 of ACS IPOH. The setting has to be grander and for that we need your commitment to attend.

So, once again I appeal for your response – PLEASE reply IMMEDIATELY and confirm if you are coming or not and advise your head-counts (no. of adults and children attending). Many Thanks.

The 2004 EVENT OF THE YEAR -
ACS CLASS OF '79 - 25TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION DINNER WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, 23 JANUARY 2003 IN IPOH.

We are now in the midst of checking out a suitable venue for this memorable event and we need your help in confirming your attendance so that we can size the crowd.

So reply directly to me and advise how many adults and children will be attending this dinner. I'll appreciate an early response from all of you.

The organizing of this 2004 EVENT OF THE YEAR has started !!

Very fortunately, we have among our schoolmates an event organizer of national repute and fame and he lives in IPOH too. He has graciously consented to organize our reunion and going by the reputation of his company, you can be assured of a Reunion Gathering that will surpass any that you have ever attended !

I'll leave his identity to your guessing for the moment; but when you get to know who he is, I am very sure you had wished you had always kept in touch with him after leaving school !! One hint that I can drop is that he has stood beside all the recent winners of the Malaysian beauty pageants......happy guessing !!

In conjunction with the upcoming reunion event, Robert Leong Hong Choon and Joe Ch'ng have embarked on a task to create a website for the ACS IPOH - Class of 79. Work has started and once the basic site is up and ready, it will be launched and we can then move our interaction to the website.

Meanwhile, we are trying to locate all of our ACS teachers and invite them for the event. If you know of their whereabouts and contacts, pls. advise. We are also trying to locate our schoolmates still living in IPOH, apart from those in this email group. If you know of anyone such, pls. advise too.

Dear Fellow School Mates,
An extraordinary meeting was convened on 21st June 2003, somewhere in Taman Tun Ismail, KL to discuss on the above matter.

The meeting unanimously has taken the decision to go ahead with the above Reunion Dinner. It will be held during the 2004 CNY holidays in IPOH. The exact date and venue will be decided later. This is heads-up information so that you can plan much in advance to be in Ipoh for this Reunion Dinner, especially those of you who are in overseas.

Do spread this news to all who belong to this very special elite group of people - i.e. those who were studying Form 5 in 1979 in ACS Ipoh.
